My Journey into Dämmerland Begins

I’ve just started listening to Dämmerland, a fascinating German fantasy project that combines audiobook storytelling with music. This unique blend of Hörspiel (audio drama) and music has caught my attention, especially given my love for fantasy literature and music.

What is Dämmerland?

Dämmerland is a German fantasy project created by Malte Hoyer from Versengold, Hannes Braun from Kissin’ Dynamite, and Annie Hurdy Gurdy. As described on Wikipedia (accessed January 4, 2026):

Dämmerland is a German fantasy project by Malte Hoyer from Versengold, Hannes Braun from Kissin’ Dynamite, and Annie Hurdy Gurdy. The project represents a mixture of audio drama (Hörspiel) and music project.

Note: Translated from the German Wikipedia article.

The project began in 2022 when Malte Hoyer and Hannes Braun came together to create what was initially planned as a children’s audiobook, but evolved into a musical fantasy audiobook. The first release includes a seven-hour audiobook, a 16-song music album, and a 224-page book, featuring numerous bands and musicians from the folk-metal and medieval music scene.

The Story

The story follows Fiete, who lives with his single mother in a run-down house at the edge of the forest. His beloved grandmother has recently passed away, and Fiete finds solace in her collection of fantastic stories. When a magpie steals his grandmother’s gold tooth—his most precious possession—Fiete sets out to retrieve it. During his search, he meets the mysterious girl Paloma, who leads him into the mysterious Dämmerland, where he experiences adventures. As the story progresses, reality and fantasy begin to blur, leaving open the question of whether these events are real or just in Fiete’s imagination.

The Music

What makes this project particularly interesting is the collaboration with various artists from the German folk-metal and medieval music scene, including:

Versengold

Schandmaul

Lord of the Lost

Saltatio Mortis

Mr. Hurley & Die Pulveraffen

And many more

The first album was released on November 22, 2024, and reached #2 on the German album charts. A second part, Dämmerland 2, was released on November 21, 2025, continuing the story across seven CDs with a runtime of six hours.

Where to Listen

The albums may be available on various streaming platforms and music stores. I’ve provided Apple Music links here:

Dämmerland - The first part (2024)

Dämmerland 2 - The continuation (2025)

Physical Editions on Amazon

If you prefer physical editions with additional content, you can find the Super Deluxe Editions on Amazon:

Note: The Amazon links below are affiliate links for Amazon Influencers and Associates. If you make a purchase through these links, I may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you.

Dämmerland (Super Deluxe Edition) - Includes book, CD, audio drama (6 CDs + downloads), and a signed bookmark

Dämmerland 2 (Limited Super Deluxe Edition) - Includes book, CD, audio drama (7 CDs + downloads), limited poster, signed bookmark, and exclusive bonus chapter

My First Impressions

I’m just beginning this journey, but I’m already intrigued by the concept of blending narrative storytelling with music. As someone who enjoys both fantasy literature and the folk-metal scene, this seems like a perfect combination. The seven-hour runtime of the first part promises an immersive experience, and I’m looking forward to seeing how the story unfolds.

I’ll share more thoughts once I’ve made more progress through the audiobook!

Sources:

Dämmerland on Wikipedia (accessed January 4, 2026)

Introducing the Talos Linux Homelab Series

I’m excited to announce the launch of my new Talos Linux Homelab Series! This comprehensive series will guide you through building a production-grade Kubernetes homelab using Talos Linux as the foundation.

What’s New?

The first article in the series, Part 1: Talos Linux Introduction - The Kubernetes-Native OS, is now live! This article covers:

What Talos Linux is and why it’s perfect for Kubernetes

Core principles: immutability, API-driven management, and minimalism

Comparison with traditional Kubernetes installation methods

Architecture and use cases

Hardware requirements for your homelab

What’s Coming

Over the next few months, I’ll be publishing the remaining parts of this series, covering everything from installation to advanced production configurations:

Part 2: Installation and building your first cluster

Part 3: Configuration management with GitOps

Part 4: High availability setup

Part 5: Storage configuration

Part 6: Networking and CNI

Part 7: Security hardening

Part 8: Monitoring and maintenance

Content in Multiple Languages

I’ll be publishing content in both English and German over the coming months. While the blog posts and general site content will be available in both languages, technical articles (like this Talos series) are maintained exclusively in English to ensure accuracy and consistency of technical terminology.

Why Talos Linux?

If you’ve ever struggled with Kubernetes cluster management, configuration drift, or security concerns with traditional Linux distributions, Talos Linux offers a refreshing alternative. It’s designed from the ground up for Kubernetes, with no SSH, no shell, and an immutable infrastructure model that makes your clusters predictable and secure.

Whether you’re a DevOps engineer looking to level up your skills, a sysadmin exploring modern infrastructure, or a homelab enthusiast wanting a production-grade setup, this series has something for you.

Ready to get started? Check out Part 1: Talos Linux Introduction and begin your journey to a better Kubernetes homelab!

Welcome to My Blog

Welcome to the first post on my new blog! After long planning, it’s finally here – a place where I can share my thoughts, experiences, and projects.

Why This Blog?

In my daily work as a DevSecOps Engineer, I constantly encounter interesting challenges, learn about new tools, and develop solutions for complex problems. Often I think: “I should document this” or “This could help others too”. This blog is exactly for that.

What You Can Expect

Technical Topics

I will regularly write about the following areas:

DevSecOps Practices – How to integrate security into CI/CD pipelines

Linux Administration – Tips and tricks for Gentoo, Funtoo, Arch, and FreeBSD

Containers & Kubernetes – Practical experiences with container orchestration

AWS & Cloud – Cloud infrastructure and best practices

Scripting – Automation with Bash, Python, and Go

Personal Projects

But not just technology! I will also write about my hobbies:

Knitting – Current projects and patterns

Cooking – Recipes and culinary experiments

Literature – Thoughts on books, especially Fantasy and Science Fiction

Diamond Paintings – Creative relaxation

The Technical Background

This blog runs on Zine, a modern static site generator written in Zig. The site is hosted on GitLab Pages and uses a CI/CD pipeline for automatic deployments.

Why a static site generator?

Security – No database, no server-side vulnerabilities

Performance – Lightning-fast load times

Simplicity – Content in Markdown, versioned with Git

Control – Full control over design and functionality

Stay in Touch

You can subscribe to new posts via RSS feed or reach me through social media (links in the footer).

I look forward to exchanging ideas with you!

Have questions or suggestions?
